Police arrest pair connected to PAWR pilfer

Two people are facing charges after allegedly stealing some empty cans and bottles from the Pet and Wildlife Rescue building in Chatham.

Police said a 34-year-old Chatham man and a 30-year-old Chatham woman are both accused of stealing a blue recycling bin from the Car and Dog Wash on Park Avenue East in Chatham on Saturday and then loading it up with empties that were donated to PAWR.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $600.

Officers said they were able to identify two suspects in connection with the case and arrested them Monday afternoon.

They were both charged with theft and possession of stolen property and later released with conditions and a future court date.

The arrests come after PAWR released some surveillance footage on Facebook of two people taking hundreds of dollars worth of empties from their property over the weekend.
