Officials with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation are watching online as the total rises for a 50/50 draw, in the hopes that it sets a new record.
The foundation launched its 50/50 fundraiser in early May. The draw is open to residents within Ontario, but the time to purchase tickets is winding down. The winning ticket will be drawn at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
CKHA Foundation President & CEO Mary Lou Crowley had previously said a goal behind the "Igniting Healthcare 50/50 FUNdraiser” is to set a record for the largest 50/50 draw in Chatham-Kent. She cited the International Plowing Match 50/50 draw as the one to beat, where the winner walked away with over $80,000.
"The generosity of this community is amazing and we can't wait to see if we can set a new record, which will make a significant impact in Chatham-Kent," said Crowley in a statement.
Money raised through the 50/50 draw will be used to purchase a new holmium laser for the CKHA's urology program.
As of Monday evening, the 50/50 draw take-home amount is at $70,620.
Tickets for the draw can be purchased online or at the foundation's office at 9 Ursuline Ave. in Chatham.
