Damages estimated at $140K after garage fire in Wallaceburg

Fire crews from Wallaceburg and Chatham were busy Sunday afternoon battling a fully involved garage fire.

Police were called to a residence on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg around 12:39 p.m.

When fire crews arrived to the residence they were met with heavy smoke and flames. The fire had spread to a close by fence, two vehicles, motorhome and a camping trailer.

The crews moved quickly to extinguish the fire to prevent it from spreading to the house on the property and to the neighbours' home. Even still, the vinyl siding of a neighbour's home was heavily damaged from the heat of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. There were no injuries reported at the fire.

The estimated damage is around $140,000.
