Calling all local artists -- Chatham-Kent is looking for ideas to feature more local art in the community.
"We want it to be a part of everything, all of our lives, all of our spaces, all of our places, all of our interactions," said Heather Slater, manager of the Chatham Capitol Theatre. "We're inviting artists to come in and share their ideas about what can make Chatham more art-friendly, more artistic, more beautiful."
On Wednesday, June 19, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., the public is invited to the Thames Art Gallery to share their ideas.
"As we look to having more art in public spaces, the community engagement is essential in that role," said Mark Reinhart, the community art and outreach coordinator. "So, coming out on Wednesday evening is an opportunity for folks and artists to have a voice, have something to say, share those big ideas."
Slater said they are looking for ideas for all types of art.
"Art hanging on walls in public buildings, in municipal buildings, but also infrastructure," said Slater. "Things in the community that we need to have that can be beautified with art, bridges, pothole covers, bike racks, that sort of thing."
