There was a whole lot of shaking going on in Lake Erie on Monday.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported an earthquake in Lake Erie just northeast of Cleveland, Ohio, measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale. The quake was reported around 10:50 a.m.
According to Cleveland television station WEWS, residents reported a vigorous shaking, with some saying it felt like a vehicle had hit their homes. Much of the activity was felt in the eastern portion of the Cleveland area.
No injuries were immediately reported and there was no word on any significant damage.
A map provided by the USGS indicated that most of the seismic activity was felt in an area stretching from Huron County, Ohio on the west, to the Pennsylvania state line on the east. The map also showed that there may have been some activity along the Lake Erie shore of southwestern Ontario, stretching from Kingsville on the west to West Lorne on the east. However, Natural Resources Canada has not reported any action.
A 3.6-magnitude earthquake was centred in Amherstburg on the evening of April 19, 2018. The magnitude was later revised to a 4.1.
