Stolen garbage bin leads to arrest

A man is in trouble with the law after allegedly stealing a police-owned garbage bin in Wallaceburg.

Police were called to Dufferin Avenue around 8 p.m. Saturday after reports of a theft. Witnesses told police that a man had stolen a garbage pail and taken off down the street with it. The man was eventually seen riding down the street on a bicycle, pulling a large garbage bin behind him.

Through investigation, it was discovered that the garbage pail belonged to the Chatham-Kent Police Service. A 38-year-old man from Wallaceburg was arrested for theft and possession. He was transported to police headquarters for a bail hearing.
