Woman charged after domestic incident
A 62-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after a night out went awry.
It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday when officers responded to a disturbance at a Chatham home. According to police, a couple was at a party earlier in the evening and both of them had been drinking. While they were driving home with friends, the woman allegedly began to assault the man in the car.
As a result, she was arrested and charged with assault. She was transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man busted for busting windows
On Sunday morning, police responded to a mischief complaint at a residence on Princess Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police identified a Chatham man who was responsible for allegedly smashing windows at the residence.
The 40-year-old was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000. He was taken into police custody for a bail hearing.
Man charged with domestic-related offences
A man is facing a handful of charges after an early morning incident in Chatham.
According to police, it happened around 2 a.m. Sunday when officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence. The man allegedly broke into the home and began harassing the person inside.
The 39-year-old was arrested and charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling, failing to comply with probation orders and two counts of criminal harassment. He is being held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
"Suspicious" man charged with breaching conditions
Early Sunday morning around 4:30 a.m., police officers responded to a call about a suspicious motorist on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
After investigating, police learned that the man had probation conditions after being released from custody in November 2018. One of the conditions was that he was supposed to obey a daily curfew between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and is facing charges of failing to comply with release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Public intoxication leads to charges
After a few too many, a man from Chatham found himself in police custody.
It started around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night when police responded to reports of an intoxicated man in the area of First Street in Chatham.
Officers were able to locate the man and for his own safety, brought him into the police station.
The 40-year-old was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and he was released once sober.
Theft report leads cops to wanted man
Police were able to scratch a name off their wanted list after a call about a suspected theft.
They received the call Saturday afternoon from a business on St. Clair Street. Officers were able to locate the suspect and found out that no theft occurred, however, he was currently wanted for failing to attend court last month
The 33-year-old-Chatham man was arrested for failing to attend court and held for a bail hearing.
Accidental 9-1-1 calls
Police are issuing a reminder after getting a large number of accidental emergency calls.
According to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, over 35 9-1-1 hang up calls were received in a 24 hour period this weekend.
Since all calls to emergency dispatch must be investigated, accidental calls and hang-ups tie up valuable resources.
