Bridge work scheduled in Thamesville

Drivers who commute through Thamesville may experience some slowdowns starting June 24.

Municipal staff have released a notice that lanes on Victoria Road will be reduced for about five weeks. The reduced lanes will include the Victoria Road and Magnavilla Line, and Victoria Road and Norton Line intersections.

Construction crews will be working to connect new roadway with the existing road for the new Thamesville Bridge.

During construction, vehicles wider than 10.5 feet will not be allowed to use Victoria Road. Vehicles with a larger width will instead have to use Kent Bridge Road over the Thames River or Little John Road over the Thames River.

Once the newly constructed bridge is done, the existing bridge will be closed. Demolition of the existing bridge is scheduled to take place sometime in the fall with a completion date set for December 2019.
