Intensifying snow will bring messy afternoon commute

Drivers across southwestern Ontario are being told to prepare for another messy commute as a system packing up to 10cm of snow moves into the region Wednesday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for London-Middlesex, Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, Oxford and Elgin counties.

The snow is from the latest in a series of low-pressure systems which have formed over the Southern Plains States. Light snow that began falling overnight will intensify Wednesday afternoon with total accumulations of around 10 cm likely by the evening, according to the national weather agency.

Drivers are reminded to slow down and leave extra space as roadways will become snow covered and slippery.

Forecasters expect the snow to stop Wednesday evening. Sunshine will return Thursday.
