Mainstreet merging Chatham branches in April

A local credit union is shutting down one of its two branches to merge them into one "flagship" facility.

Mainstreet Credit Union will close its Queen Street branch on April 26 and combine the services and staff with the branch on 40 Keil Dr. According to a statement from Mainstreet, it will offer a larger and more modern building with specialized services which include wealth and investing advice.

It added there will be evening and Saturday hours of operation to accommodate its customers' busy lifestyles. Full-time staff won't be affected by the change but Mainstreet said there will be "limited part-time staff impacts."

The company said anyone who has the Queen Street location as their primary branch will be contacted in the next few weeks to discuss transitioning to the Keil Drive branch.
