OPP charge LaSalle woman with impaired driving on Highway 401

A LaSalle woman will have to appear in court next month on charges of driving while impaired and having more than the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.

The charges come after the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint about a driver on Highway 401 near Victoria Road in Chatham-Kent last Friday.

Police found a driver around 5:30 p.m., and while speaking with her, the officer realized she had been drinking. She was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment for more testing.

Shelley Marra, 53, of LaSalle has been charged.

A 26-year-old Windsor man, Adam Gauthier, is charged with care and control of a vehicle and drunk driving after officers caught him allegedly sleeping behind the wheel of a parked pickup truck on County Road 50 in Essex on Sunday around 1 a.m. His driver's license has been suspended and his vehicle impounded.

The charges have not been proven in court.
