Man and woman both charged after domestic assault

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 29-year-old Wallaceburg man and a 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman after getting a call about a disturbance.

Officers said when they arrived at the Wallaceburg residence Wednesday morning, they learned that it wasn't the first time the pair was involved in an incident of domestic violence, either.

As a result of their investigation, police charged a 29-year-old man with nine offences including assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a dangerous weapon, and failing to comply with his release conditions.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman was also charged with multiple assault and weapons-related offences. She's also accused of committing mischief and helping someone to breach their release conditions.

Both of the accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Blenheim man accused of assaulting his girlfriend

A 25-year-old Blenheim man is charged with assault after an alleged incident of domestic violence.

Police said the man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend while they were arguing at her residence in Chatham Wednesday afternoon.

The man is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police attempting to track down stolen trailer

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they look for a trailer that was stolen from a fenced compound just south of Chatham.

Officers said sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, someone forced their way into a fenced compound on Seventh Line and stole a brand new black Moritz dump trailer.

The damages from the break-in are estimated at $2,500 and the trailer itself is valued at approximately $10,000.
