Police respond to multiple break and enters
Break and enters continue to lead police briefs as officers were called to a couple more in Chatham Tuesday.The first happened in the afternoon when a woman was alerted by her barking dog that a strange man had entered her home. The man fled after she called the police. Officers located and arrested a man a short distance away.
The 43-year-old Chatham man was charged with break and enter and was released pending a future court date of December 21.
Police said the second break and enter occurred sometime Tuesday when an unknown amount of suspects forced their way into a home on Caledonia Road. Once inside, officers said the suspects stole power tools, a Mac laptop, and a red 2006 Honda motorcycle with Ontario license plate 9772D.
Man charged with theft
A man was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing bicycle tubing from the Canadian Tire in Chatham. According to police, an employee pursued the man as he left the store, setting off the alarm.
Officers responded and took the man into custody.
The 20-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and being in possession of property obtained by a crime. He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.
Man charged with public intoxication
Police responded to an alleged intoxicated man in the downtown Chatham area Tuesday night. Officers deemed the man unable to care for himself and took him into custody for his own safety.
The 28-year-old was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and trespassing. He was released Wednesday morning when sober.
Executed warrant
Police arrested a man Tuesday afternoon in connection with an alleged assault in Wallaceburg last week.
The 24-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with assaulting a man known to him. He was released pending a future court date of December 19.
