Arrest made after Wallaceburg poppy box theft

Chatham-Kent police have arrested one person and they are still looking for another suspect after a Remembrance Day poppy box was reported stolen in Wallaceburg.

Officers said a man and a woman grabbed it at the McDonald's shortly after 9 p.m. on November 8 and took off with the donation money that was inside.

Police said they have been able to identify two suspects in connection with the case and arrested one of them Sunday night.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed address is now charged with theft and possession of property obtained by crime. Officers said he was also wanted in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart and for failing to show up for fingerprinting as well as a court hearing.

Police are still looking for a 33-year-old woman in connection with the poppy box investigation. No names have been released.
