Firefighters return to farm blaze

A barn fire that started Monday night reignited Tuesday afternoon, forcing fire crews back to the scene.

The Chatham-Kent Fire Department originally responded to the blaze just before 10 p.m. Monday on Prince Albert Road in Chatham. The fire department tweeted that firefighters were at the scene until roughly 3 a.m.

Crews were called back around 3 p.m. on Tuesday after reports that the fire had reignited. EMS on scene said there was a chance it had rekindled, but it was under control and crews left shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Owners of the property said heat trapped in old straw may have started the blaze, however, fire officials have not confirmed the cause of the fire.

A damage estimate has not been released yet.
