Police say a man was taken to hospital after an assault in Chatham.

Officers were called to a disturbance on West St. in Chatham Friday night. Police located a 57-year-old man with face and head injuries.

The man was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later taken to a London hospital for medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.

A Ridgetown man facing several charges has been arrested.

According to police, a 33-year-old Ridgetown man was required to attend the Chatham court house for the charges of failing to attend court, failing to give fingerprints, mischief under $5,000, and driving under suspension.

The man failed to attend his scheduled court appearance and a warrant was issued of his arrest.

On Friday at 8:45pm, police say the man was located and arrested in Ridgetown. He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Head Quarters to await a bail hearing.

Police are investigating a couple thefts in Chatham.

Sometime Thursday night, police say unknown person(s) went into an unlocked shed behind a business in Chatham. It's still unknown what was taken. The investigation is ongoing.

Then sometime Friday, unknown suspect(s) went into a laundry room in an apartment building on Park Ave. in Chatham. The unknown suspect(s) tried to break into the cash box for the washer and dryer, causing $350 damage.
