Despite this work-week being shorter because of the Canada Day holiday, a few more residents have thrown their hat into the ring to run in this fall's municipal election.
The deadline to file nomination papers is July 27, with the election set for October 2018.
Below is a current list of people running for a position on Chatham-Kent council. The names in bold are those who filed their papers this week. Under the council section is an updated list for people running for mayor and the position of trustee.

A few residents have filed their papers for the position of trustee, they include Louise Aitken (French Separate Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence), David Argenti (English Separate - St. Clair Catholic District School Board), and Chris White (English Public Lambton Kent District School Board).
Other people vying for the position include Brenda Rumble (Eng. SCCDSB), Pierre Lambert (French Public – Conseil Scolaire Viamonde), John Mrnik (Eng. SCCDSB), Robert (Bob) Demers (French Separate Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence), and John Van Heck (Eng. SCCDSB).
