UPDATE: Pistons Confirm Casey As New Coach

Former Toronto Raptors Coach Dwane Casey has reached an agreement on a five-year deal to become the next coach of the Detroit Pistons.

The news was originally reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who cited sources within the NBA.

The Pistons confirmed the hiring via Twitter Monday afternoon.

The agreement comes one month after Casey was fired by the Raptors, who went 59-23 this past season on the way to the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.  The team lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs.

Casey, 61, has a 373-307 career record in parts of nine seasons with Toronto and Minnesota. He coached the Raptors to five consecutive postseason appearances and a trip to the Eastern Conference finals in 2016.
