The May long weekend is here and many local residents have Victoria Day off work, which means municipal offices and several services are closed.
All public libraries in Chatham-Kent will be closed May 21, the Chatham courthouse will be closed, the Health and Family Services building and associated offices such as Public Health will be closed. These offices and branches will reopen Tuesday during normal hours of operation.
Garbage and recycling pick up will be delayed by one day. Leaf and yard depots will also be closed on Victoria Day.
In terms of transportation, CK Transit will not be running on Monday, but the Seasonal Interurban Transit Route will be operational.
Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool are open Sunday but will be closed Monday. However, some splash pads will be open.
As for services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available May 21. The pharmacy located at the Chatham hospital, Elston Pharmacy, will also be closed.
Emergency departments at both the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be open at all times. Municipal emergency services such as Chatham-Kent police or Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services will also be available at all times.
