Students with special needs that are about to graduate high school are getting a helping hand.
Community Living Chatham-Kent is hosting a transition fair.
"People can walk around and gather information from over 20 services providers and agencies in the community," says Steve Stokley, JOBWORX manager at Community Living Chatham-Kent. "Get information on what their teens might be able to go once they graduate high school."
Stokley says it's a great event for students with special needs that aren't heading off to college.
"You can learn about education, employment, recreation, housing, social opportunities, and all the community programs that are available," he says.
The fair hopes to help answer the question, "what's next?"
"There's not a lot of bridges from high school to the community," says Stokley. "My son is going to college, but some of the teens that may not be going to college or university, they're sitting at home wondering 'what's next for me?' So this is the night for them to come out and talk to the different agencies that could possibly help them."
The free event gets underway at 5pm on Wednesday, April 18 in the cafeteria at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.
