Former United States first lady Barbara Bush has died at the age of 92.
A family spokesman announced her death in a statement posted to Twitter on Tuesday and condolences quickly followed.
Always a friend to Canada, Barbara Bush leaves a legacy of dignity, grace, service and devotion to family. Sophie and I send our deepest condolences to Presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush, their family, and to all Americans.

Barbara Bush served as first lady from 1989 to 1993, and is survived by her husband, former president George H. W. Bush, and her five children, including former president George W. Bush and former Florida governor Jeb Bush.
According to a statement released by her husband's office, after consulting her family and her doctors, Barbara had “decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care.”
The Bushes had celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in January, making them the longest-married couple in presidential history.
