The MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex believes leadership hopeful Caroline Mulroney can bring power back to the provincial Tories if elected later this month.
MPP Monte McNaughton has been volunteering as co-chair for Mulroney's campaign and is eager to have her visit rural communities this weekend.
"She's gaining momentum in this leadership campaign," says McNaughton. "We just held an event in London this week where she had 450 people [attend] so I'm seeing it right across the province where the crowds are getting bigger."
Mulroney will be in Windsor Saturday morning from 8am-9am at the Ciociaro Club. In the afternoon, she'll be in Chatham at Glitters Fun Eatery from 12pm-1pm. From Chatham, she will then travel to Sarnia for a meet and greet at the Holiday Inn from 2pm-4pm.
Mulroney is one of four candidates running in the leadership race, which includes Christine Elliott, Doug Ford, and Tanya Granic Allen.
McNaughton says what separates Mulroney from the other candidates is her "fresh approach".
"She's come out against the carbon tax and she has a plan to reduce personal income taxes by almost 25%, as well as she just announced [Thursday] that she would create 30,000 brand new care beds in the province of Ontario," says McNaughton. "She's put out a fully costed detail platform and she can win, I'm certain, a majority government in the next election."
The Ontario PCs will reveal the party's new leader March 10.
