UPDATE: Man Critical After Falling Through Ice On Detroit River

A 53-year-old man is in hospital after falling through the ice on the Detroit River.

The US Coast Guard assisted Windsor emergency services after police received a report that two people had gone into the water at around 1:15pm Wednesday afternoon

The 53-year-old man was pulled from the water around Riverside Dr. and California St.  He remains in hospital in critical condition.

Emergency services continue to search for a possible second victim, but at this point, rescue crews have not confirmed if anyone else went into the water.  Windsor emergency crews remain at the scene but the coast guard has suspended its search.

No further information has been released at this time.
