Provincial Snow Plows Keep Plowing, For Now

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is assuring people that local provincial highways will continue to be snow plowed as usual.

The MTO met with its contractor, Carillion Canada, on Monday and the company advised provincial officials that winter maintenance services are continuing uninterrupted at this time in places like Chatham, Windsor and London. That comes on the heels of its parent company, Carillion in the UK, announcing that it was forced into bankruptcy. The move is putting 6,000 Canadian jobs in jeopardy.

Transportation Minister Stephen Del Duca tweeted that the MTO "is continuing to look at all of its options should this situation change."

More meetings with Carillion Canada are scheduled this week and the MTO will continue to provide updates to the travelling public as they become available.
