Truly Green & Greenfield Global Lead The Way In Innovation

Two Chatham companies are getting lots of praise from Chatham-Kent's mayor.

Randy Hope says Greenfield Global and Truly Green Farms are world leaders when it comes to innovation in their respective industries.

They're using eachother's steam and organic waste to evolve their sectors and make a profit.

Hope says both companies are a shining example of teamwork that everybody wants to duplicate.

"What we see going on between Greenfield Ethanol and Greg's family with Truly Green is everybody from around the world wants to see it. Lots of visitors from around the world have come to see the operations here," says Hope.

Truly Green Farms is a high tech greenhouse that will be growing 90 acres of tomatoes by 2019 and Greenfield Global is a world leader in specialty alcohols and the largest ethanol producer in Canada.

Greenfield is also working hard to produce the next generation of jet fuel out of tomato waste to reduce the carbon footprint.

Hope says Truly Green and Greenfield are leading the way in innovation.

"What we're doing is setting the stage for others. We're actually the leaders in North America with this facility. It just shows the commitment to the environment, the commitment to sustaining jobs and the commitment to supporting businesses to reduce their overall cost," the mayor says.

Hope says these types of partnerships keep jobs in Chatham because the companies rely on eachother for success.

"If you have an end supplier that will buy your waste, both industries start to depend on eachother so companies won't pick up and move somewhere else. They're now going to stay in their home base and grow that home base so they look at more innovative ways to support eachother," Hope says.
