Spitfires Beat Rangers 8-5

The Windsor Spitfires defeated the Kitchener Rangers 8-5 in OHL action Tuesday night.

The Spitfires opened the scoring when Jake Smith found the back of the Rangers net. A few minutes later, Aaron Luchuk scored his first of three goals on the night, making it 2-0 Windsor. Goals by Lev Starikov and Luke Boka made it 4-0 Spitfires, before the Rangers scored twice to make it 4-2 at the end of the first period.

Luchuk and Boka both scored again in the second period and the Spitfires led 6-5 going into the third.

In the final period, Luchuk completed his hat trick and Daniel D'Amico added a goal of his own to make it 8-5.

Goaltender Michael DiPietro made 38 saves out of 43 shots on net.

The Spitfires return to the WFCU Centre on Thursday to take on the Erie Otters.
