UPDATE: Needle Found In Halloween Candy

Police are reminding parents to look over their children's Halloween candy, after a needle was found lodged in a snickers bar that was handed out to some kids in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service says a parent inspected their child's candy on Wednesday and discovered the sharp object.

In a release Thursday morning, police provided more specifics on the location where the child was trick-or-treating. Officers say the complainant had taken her children to homes within the area of Queen St., Tweedsmuir Ave., Lacroix St. and Park Ave. in Chatham.

"Please be cautious prior to allowing your children to consume their candy and carefully check over the pieces they received," police say in a news release.

Officers say the needle was removed from the candy and placed into a sharps container and the Snickers bar was safely disposed of by police.

If you find any candy that has been tampered with, police are urging you to contact the Chatham-Kent police at 519-436- 6600 ext. 222 and ensure that it disposed of properly.
