Spitfires To Raise Banner October 12

The Windsor Spitfires have set the date to raise their Memorial Cup banner.

The team announced Wednesday that they will raise their 2017 championship banner on Thursday, October 12, before the Spitfires take on the rival London Knights.

The Spitfires won their third Memorial Cup in team history in May.

The team is promising a memorable evening.

“This is obviously going to be a special night for our fans,” General Manager Warren Rychel says in a press release. “The chance to relive our historic run – a title we won together, on home ice – will be unforgettable.”

Windsor became the first host team to win the championship since the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2012. They also were the first team in tournament history to win the Cup after being swept in the first round of their league playoffs, against these same Knights.

Puck drop for that game is 7:05pm though the festivities will take place during pre-game ceremonies. For ticket information, click here.
