Maroons Start Exhibition Schedule With Loss

The Chatham Maroons opened their pre-season play on a sour note Sunday night.

The Maroons lost 8-2 to the St. Thomas Stars.

Most of the Maroons' returning players and veterans were sitting for the game, giving the coaches and front office staff a chance to see some of their rookies and prospects on the ice.

Micheal Vanek and Thomas Michaud both scored for Chatham with Cameron Welch and Craig Spence picking up the assists.

Jake Lebel and Kyle Droge split the game in net for the Maroons, combining for 26 saves on 34 shots.

The Maroons' next exhibition game is Tuesday against the Sarnia Legionnaires at 7pm at Clearwater Arena in Sarnia.
