New Jobs at KSR in Ridgetown

KSR International Co. in Ridgetown is adding 40 new jobs.

The auto parts manufacturer is partnering with the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund to expand production, which means new jobs and security for the current 607 positions.

The province is investing $676,600 out of the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, while KSR is investing $6,093,400.

"I was really pleased we were able to announce funding for KSR," said MPP Liz Sandals, who was at the plant Thursday morning on behalf of Jeff Leal, Minister Responsible for Small Business.

While at the plant, Sandals was able to get a first-hand look at what the company does and the type of equipment they use.

She says the additional funding will allow the plant to add four new brake pedal assembly products and two new suspension sensors. The project is expected to be completed in December 2019.

The plant is also investing in new equipment to increase efficiency, and they're expanding production capabilities.

"Ontario's niche is in advanced manufacturing, high-tech robotic lines, and that's the sort of equipment that KSR is investing in," says Sandals. "In fact they already have a number of automated lines, this will give them another one with absolutely the most up-to-date technology."

Sandals adds the expansion and innovation will benefit the manufacturing plant, especially when competing with other companies.
