Chatham's Laprise Takes UFC Bout

A Chatham-Kent fighter improves his record on the international stage.

Lightweight Chad Laprise won his bout on Saturday night's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 213 event in Las Vegas. Laprise won the fight in the third round by knockout over Californian Brian Camozzi.

Camozzi was originally scheduled to fight Alan Jouban in this event but Jouban withdrew on Thursday due to a foot injury. He was replaced by Laprise.

Laprise, who turns 31 on July 23, led Camozzi in the fight 46-38 in total strikes and 43-37 in significant strikes. He also had the bout's only takedown.

The knockout, on punches, came at 3:33 of the third and final round.

Laprise's mixed martial arts record is improved to 12-2, and is his second straight win in UFC.
