The Canadian Cancer Society announced this year's Relay for Life in Chatham-Kent raised over $81,000.
Senior Manager Cindy Vinall says she's never disappointed by the generosity of the community.
"It really was a very successful evening. The rain, although it did put a damper on the actual event, did not put a damper on Relay for Life spirit in Chatham-Kent," says Vinall.
According to Vinall, last year's CK Relay for Life raised $86,000.
"We're very close to where we were last year so we're really happy about that. Over the years, the revenue has declined a bit, but there are so many great organizations [and] so many great events that $81,000 is a significant amount of money. It will help us tremendously," she adds.
The fundraiser was held at the Chatham-Kent Athletic Complex on Friday. There were over 400 volunteers and participants at the relay.
