Battery Boy Backs Canada Day Celebrations

Plans to celebrate Canada Day in Chatham are getting a boost from a local business.

Battery Boy has stepped up with a $5,000 donation to cover the final costs for the event's Kids Zone entertainment.

As previously reported by BlackburnNews.com, the group behind the celebration plans for Canada's 150th in Chatham were looking for about that much money earlier this week to cover all of their expenses.

The festivities will kick off with fireworks and live entertainment at St. Clair College on June 30.

There will be a Canada Day parade starting at 10am on July 1 -- running from Sandys St. to King St.

And there will also be several free family fun activities available at Tecumseh Park throughout day.

Organizers will be collecting donations at this year's RetroFest to help cover any additional costs that may come up.
