Prescription Drugs Turned In

Thousands of narcotic pills have come pouring into police custody.

On May 13, Chatham-Kent police held a "Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day" in Wallaceburg, Chatham, and Tilbury.

About 1,200 narcotic pills were turned in, which is 382 more than last year.

The amount of non-narcotics turned in also rose by 30.97 kg.

Police say the dropped off drugs included two Opioid patches, liquid Hydrocodone, and liquid Codeine.

Since the program started in 2013, about 7,270 narcotic pills and 192.419 kg of non-narcotic prescription drugs have been dropped-off.

Police add the medication turned in will be disposed of in a proper manner.
