ALPHA AGM Coming To Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is getting ready to share its expertise at this year's Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) Annual General Meeting.

The annual conference is set to take place in Chatham next month.

Sharon Pfaff, member of the Chatham-Kent Board of Health, says there are a few interesting sessions she's looking forward to. One area of interest revolves around transformations within the healthcare system.

"There's some new legislation [Patient's First] that's coming forward so the conference is really focused on some of those potential changes, and how public health units need to react to be successful in archiving that transformation," she says.

Another area of interest is pointed towards age-friendly communities. Pfaff says since Chatham-Kent has some familiarity with this topic, it'll be an opportunity to share some insight with other health officials.

"I think Chatham-Kent certainly has some expertise in contributing to the conference in that area, [based] on all the great things we've done here locally," she says.

The annual conference will be held in Chatham at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre, June 11-13.
