Charges Dropped In Alleged Tilbury Dog-Fighting Ring

A long list of charges have been withdrawn in the case of an alleged dog fighting ring in Tilbury.

Court officials in Chatham have confirmed for BlackburnNews.com that on Thursday, the Crown dropped all charges against two of the accused - John Robert Jr. and Kim Robert.

Four more suspects still face hundreds of animal cruelty, weapons and drug-related charges, dating back to an October 2015 investigation led by Chatham-Kent police and the Ontario SPCA. Investigators searched a home in Tilbury East Township and found evidence they allege was consistent with raising and training dogs to fight.

John Robert Senior, Michel Gagnon, Robert Tomlin and Candace Johnson are back in court for a preliminary discovery hearing on July 18.

An application to euthanize 21 pit bull-type dogs seized in Tilbury is still before the courts.
