Creating A More Welcoming Shelter

PAWR is settling into its new home on Park Ave. in Chatham quite nicely.

Operations Manager Myriam Armstrong says now that most of the renovations are done, they're able to establish and enforce their own procedures.

"The staff know what they're doing so it's definitely more of a routine now," says Armstrong.

One of the more noticeable changes at the shelter can be seen in the front area. Armstrong says they wanted an open concept to make the area more welcoming and comfortable.

"[It's] more convenient for people who come with dogs," says Armstrong. "There's actually room for them to go on one side and sit down with the dog, where other people can still come in."

She adds not only does this create more convenience for people, but for animals as well.
