UPDATE: Ohio State University Attacker Dead

Officials in Ohio say a man who launched an attack on the campus of Ohio State University is dead.

The University warned students in a series of tweets Monday morning. "Run, hide, fight" is standard protocol for students at the university in active shooter events. It stands for "Run" or evacuate if possible; "Hide" or get out of view; and "Fight" which is a last resort to incapacitate the shooter if your life is in imminent danger.

According to the Columbus Times-Dispatch, several people were wounded when a man drove a car into a group of pedestrians, got out of the vehicle, and started attacking people with a knife. Shortly after the attack began, the man was shot dead by an OSU officer.

Sources report that 11 people have been hospitalized.

CNN has since identified the man as 18-year-old Ohio State student Abdul Razak Ali Artan. Investigators are still trying to determine Artan's motive.

The shelter in place has been lifted. Classes are cancelled for the day and some buildings on campus remain closed.
