Police Investigate Church Theft

Chatham-Kent police made quick work of a theft investigation at a Chatham church.

Officers went to St. Joseph's Parish on Wellington St. Monday morning. They say around 2 ft. of downspout copper and lightning rod cable had been taken from the building. The incident caused around $600 in damages.

Police were able to find and arrest the suspect just after noon.

Now a 41-year-old Chatham man is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and mischief under $5,000.
