A trend of above-average temperatures in southwestern Ontario doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Environment Canada Senior Climatologist David Phillips says 13 of the last 14 months have now seen higher-than-normal temperatures. October came in a 1.5 C warmer than expected.
"Typically, in a six month period, you're going to have one or two months that are going to be different than the trend. But in this case it's just been warm, warm and more warm," he explains.
November kicked off with a day that reached 24 C (75 F) in Windsor-Essex. Phillips says the average temperature for this time of year is around 11 C (52 F).
"We haven't had even a frost," he says. "We got down to below 1 C (34 F), but we're still not freezing, and often by this time we've had a killing frost."
According to the climatologist, temperatures are expected to return to seasonal around Remembrance Day.
Phillips says daily highs around 15 C (59 F) simply can't be sustained because the days are getting much shorter.
In the meantime, it's clear sailing for farmers still finishing up their final harvests.
