The Chatham Goodfellows will be honouring a special group of volunteers at their 62nd Annual General Meeting Thursday night.
Tim Mifflin, who is on the board of directors, says for the first time, they'll be handing out a "Lifetime Achievement Award."
"The recipient this year has developed a culture of philanthropy for their staff," says Mifflin. "They have been a great benefit for not only Goodfellows, but also for other organizations in Chatham-Kent."
Mifflin says they decided to create a new award for lifetime achievement because the Goodfellows have been around for more than six decades now and there have been a lot of dedicated volunteers along the way.
"There are a lot of people who have done a lot of good work for us and we're just looking for a way to recognize them," says Mifflin. "We thought the lifetime award is a really good way to do that."
The winner of the inaugural award will be revealed at tonight's meeting along with the recipient of the Mr. or Mrs. Goodfellow award.
The Annual General Meeting starts at 6:30pm tonight at the Spirit and Life Centre on Wellington St. W in Chatham.
The Goodfellows' office opens Monday, November 7 at 9am, also at the Spirit and Life Centre.
