Community Hub Proposal Reaches Ridgetown

A couple of public meetings are being held in Ridgetown this week to further discuss the possibility of forming a community hub.

Councillor David VanDamme will be at the meetings to provide locals with more information and answer any questions or concerns regarding the proposed project.

“This idea - if it works will really set a rural community town to the next level,” says VanDamme. “It's a way of dealing with old infrastructure, to build something new, [and] to create partnerships.”

Concerns from locals have already started coming in says VanDamme.

“One of the biggest concerns is, 'what do we have to give up?' and I don't see it that way,” he says.

During Monday night's council meeting VanDamme encouraged other councillors to attend the information session, expressing his excitement on the matter.

“I'm hoping that we get a good mix of people with dynamic and diverse questions that will challenge us,” says VanDamme. “That's one way to get a great idea off to a good start.”

The meetings will be on October 18 and 19 at 6pm. Both sessions will be held on the second floor at the Ridgetown Municipal Centre (in the former council chambers).
