The Terry Fox Run is getting closer but more volunteers are needed in Chatham.
Co-organizer Adam Barton says they're looking to have about 35-40 volunteers for this year's event.
"It's a good thing for any high school kids who want to make those hours," says Barton. "We're more than willing to sign that sheet and get them involved."
Volunteers will also be needed to walk or run in the event.
"[We mainly need] people out on the course helping people stay on track and keeping them safe, as well as just cheering them on," he says.
There will be a 1km, 5km, and 10km run/walk for people to choose from. In addition, Barton says there will be a barbecue after the event.
"It's going to be a good family event," says Barton.
Barton and his wife have been running the charity event for the past four years. He says as per usual they're looking to surpass the amount of money they raised in previous years.
"I think we were around the $25,000 mark for last year," says Barton. "Terry's goal was one dollar for every Canadian, if we could get one dollar for every Chathamite that would be beautiful."
Barton says they're trying to make the event prominent within Chatham by raising awareness over social media and posting signs in the community.
The Terry Fox Run will be on September 18. Registration is at 9am and the run/walk will start at 11am.
