A local grocer is giving you a bigger space to shop in.
The Dutch Market is moving from their current location on Indian Creek Road in Chatham's south end to the former No Frills building on William St. S. in the city's downtown core.
President Charles Huls says they've been dreaming up this expansion for quite sometime.
"We looked at the building three or four years ago with a dream in mind...and it finally materialized. It was just meant to be," he says, noting they saw it as an opporunity to move into the downtown, and do more in the retail and wholesale sectors.
Huls says the expansion allows them to expand their lineup and accomoate more local produce.
"We're going to have a small restuarant in the building, it should seat around 50 people. We're also looking to bring in local produce, and build a bigger bakery, a hot buffet table and a salad bar."
He says the expansion will create between 20 and 30 new jobs.
"It'll be a variety of kitchen personnel to bakery to cafe to just general produce positions," says Huls.
Opening day is slated for Thursday September 15, 2016 with hours running from 8am to 7pm.
