A 78-year-old Blenheim man will soon hear if he's fit to stand trial for the murder of his wife.
Walter Ardis was slated to appear in a Chatham courtroom via video feed Thursday, but his matter was set aside. His lawyer David Jacklin says they're still waiting to hear from a psychiatrist about possible dates for a fitness hearing.
That psychiatrist, Dr. William Komar, was told to evaluate Ardis by the end of July and see if he was mentally fit to stand trial. Ardis was arrested back in April, after his wife's body was found in their burned home on Nichols Dr. in Blenheim.
Jacklin told BlackburnNews.com they expect to set a date for the hearing with Dr. Komar by the end of the day.
