Rising electricity costs continue to be a concern for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Premier Kathleen Wynne says the government continues to work on programs for business and residential customers to make hydro more affordable.
"We're going to continue to work to mitigate the costs of electricity and at the same time to build the infrastructure that we know we need," says Wynne.
But Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown says with the highest industrial electricity costs in North America, Ontario is not doing enough.
'No matter how open you are to business, no matter how aggressive the economic development is of a city or a town, if you have energy prices that are not competitive it puts you at a disadvantage," says Brown.
NDP leader Andrea Horwath also addressed concerns about rising hydro costs at the conference.
“Ontarians are paying too much for hydro. I’m committing today that an NDP government will cut the cost of hydro for families, and businesses,” says Horwath. “First, we will lower hydro bills by immediately taking the HST off hydro."
The AMO conference runs until Wednesday at Caesars Windsor.
