Sexual Attack In Conservation Area

Chatham-Kent police are searching for a male suspect in his 50s after a reported sexual assault at Thames Grove Conservation Area.

Officers say just before 4pm Tuesday, a 64-year-old woman was walking through the conservation area off Grand Ave. E in Chatham.

On the path closest to the Thames River, she saw a man pleasuring himself. Police say the suspect then grabbed the woman "in a sexual manner" and said something inappropriate to her.

The woman was able to get away, avoiding any physical injury. Officers searched the area, but couldn't find the suspect.

Police are now looking for a white man between the ages of 50-60, with short light hair. They say he appears physically fit, and was last seen wearing a red cap and blue faded flip flops.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Ken Lauzon at kenla@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6623 or Crime Stoppers.
