Flight Fest Welcomes Guest Speakers

Aviation history will take centre stage at the Chatham Capitol Theatre tonight.

Captain Robert Piche will tell the dramatic story of making a dead stick landing.

"I was doing a flight from Toronto, Lester B. Pearson Airport going to Lisbon in Portugal," says Piche. "In mid-Atlantic, all of a sudden I had a massive fuel leak, which brought the plane to less to power both the engines. And we had to glide it into the Terceira Airport in Azores."

Author Marc-Andre Valiquette will also be speaking. He's published four books on the Avro-Arrow and says people are still fascinated by the plane.

"What it could of been, also the way it was destroyed and everything and the government decision, you know the usual lack of vision," says Valiquette. "It's a legend in it's own and always fascinate people. That's why 55 years after people still talk about it."

Tickets for Canadian Making Aviation History are $20 and will be available at the door. The event gets underway at 7pm. The event is a part of CK Flight Fest, for more information, click here.
