New Pipeline Big For Local Agribusiness

Leamington and Kingsville-based greenhouses are set to benefit from a $12.3-million Union Gas expansion.

About 570 acres of greenhouses will be affected by the company's plan to lay new natural gas pipeline.

Construction started this week, and Union Gas says it'll take about three or four months to finish.

"The Leamington Expansion Project will bring much-needed capacity to the region and specifically the local agribusiness," says Windsor-Chatham Union Gas District Manager Sean Collier.

The pipeline will run from the existing Union Gas Station on County Rd. 14, west of Hwy. 77 south, along a recreational trail to a new station being built north of County Rd. 18. That's a distance of nearly 7 km.
