Huron East Receives Request For Road Improvement For Plowing Match

The chair of the fundraising committee for the 2017 International Plowing Match being held in Walton has asked Huron East council to consider widening and paving one of the roads leading to the site on County Rd. 12.

Graeme Craig says the Canada Company Rd. is a good road, but over the three months surrounding the IPM there is going to be a significant increase in traffic on the road, including a lot of heavy trucks and travel homes.

Craig pointed out the roads leading to the IPM site are in fact part of the show and they create an impression for anyone working at the site or attending the match.

There was no estimate of the cost for the work on the road, and Huron East council received the request without making any commitment.

Craig was the chair of the last IPM in Huron County in 1999.
